Yarn《編織狂潮》是一部來自冰島、在探討編織藝術的紀錄片。
傳統的鉤織與編織工藝已成為當代藝術中最炙手可熱的潮流之一。我們跟隨幾位國際藝術家與編織者，探索他們如何以全新的方式將毛線帶入街頭與我們的生活。這部風格獨特且發人深省的電影從冰島出發，帶領我們踏上一場色彩繽紛的全球旅程，發現毛線如何將我們緊密相連。

Tinna Þórudóttir Þorvaldsdóttir：Yarn Graffiti Artist 紗線塗鴉藝術家

來自冰島的 Tinna 是「紗線轟炸」(Yarnbombing) 或「紗線風暴」(Yarnstorming) 世界的一部分，這是一種將街頭藝術與編織結合的藝術形式。每年六月的第一個週末是國際紗線風暴日，世界各地的團體會用紗線「轟炸」他們的城鎮和城市，將雕像、樹木及任何公共空間的物體覆蓋上編織作品，透過編織來重新奪回公共空間。

Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam 堀內紀子 - Net Play Works的共同創辦人

堀內紀子是一位日本紡織藝術家，運用編織(knitting)、鉤織(crochet)和結繩(knot making)技術創作作品，常被稱為「纖維藝術」(fibre art)。她目前專注於打造大型的互動式紡織環境。特別是專為兒童設計的「紡織遊樂場」，這些作品由鮮豔的鉤織和編結尼龍網狀結構組成。

Cirkus Cirkör 席庫爾馬戲團

Cirkus Cirkör 是一家瑞典馬戲團，起源可以追溯到 Tilde Björfors 和一群藝術家前往巴黎，並愛上當代馬戲所帶來的無限可能性。二十年後，超過 200 萬人曾在舞台上或各大藝術節中觀看 Cirkus Cirkör 的演出。此外，40 萬名兒童和青少年透過當代馬戲接受訓練、創作並學習。如今，當代馬戲已成為瑞典一門成熟的藝術形式，並且無處不在，從幼兒園到大學，甚至延伸至安養院。

Olek - Crochet Artist 鉤針編織藝術家

Agata Oleksiak，藝名 Olek，是一位波蘭藝術家，現居紐約。她的作品涵蓋雕塑、裝置藝術（如鉤織自行車 crocheted bicycles）、充氣藝術、行為藝術以及纖維藝術。Olek 曾以鉤織覆蓋建築、雕塑、人群，甚至整間公寓，並在美國、英國、德國、巴西、土耳其、法國、義大利、波蘭和哥斯大黎加等地展出作品。Olek 的藝術探索性別、女性主義理念，以及透過色彩、概念性探索與精細細節所呈現的溝通演變。她不斷挑戰時尚、藝術、工藝與公共藝術之間的界限，巧妙融合雕塑與奇幻想像。透過傳統的鉤織技法，她將紗線這種短暫易逝的媒介，轉化為表達日常經驗、靈感與希望的工具，並藉此隱喻身體與心理過程的複雜性與相互連結。

About the movie:

The traditional crafts of crochet and knitting have become one of the hottest movements in modern art. We follow a few International artists and knitters as they bring yarn to the streets and into our lives in new ways. Starting in Iceland, this quirky and thought-provoking film takes us on a colorful and global journey as we discover how yarn connects us all.

Director’s statement:

This is first and foremost a storytelling documentary, following and listening to lively characters, as they share with us their passion, struggles and view of the world. There is a strong sense of "girl power" that shines through. Our aim was to make the film a feast for eyes and ears by implementing original music, animation, graphics and vibrant footage where one would get a feel for textures, since this is called Yarn, although the yarn is just the red thread that holds the story together.

Director’s intro:

Una Lorenzen is an Icelandic film director and artist. In 2021 she was nominated by Cinema Eye Honors for outstanding animation for the documentary Rebel Hearts, which also traveled to festivals such as Sundance and Hot Docs. In 2016 she co-directed the documentary Yarn which won an Audience award at Nordisk Panorama and received excellent reviews in New York Times. Her latest short film Chasing Birds (2022) has won a few awards including the Golden Goblet for Best animated Short at Shanghai International Film Festival (2023) and at Reykjavik International Film Festival in 2022. 

Una has a Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design from Iceland Academy of the Arts (2004) and a Masters Degree in Experimental Animation from Cal Arts in California (2009). She lives in Reykjavík, Iceland but collaborates regularly with a wonderful team of animators, directors and producers in North America and Iceland.
